Discovering a new palate at Old Ebbitt Grill

Before I went to Washington D.C., I planned which were the places I was going to visit. I researched on different websites such as : Yelp, Google and TripAdvisor. There was one that really called my attention and that was the famous ‘Old Ebbitt Grill’. It was everywhere and their reviews surpassed the ratings of a good majority of restaurants. So I thought giving it a try would actually not be a bad idea ( I even saved the number on my cell because I was dying to try it). And so, I called and made a reservation for the evening of the next day.

I arrived with my special one and it was crowded! It was beautiful in the inside and so on the outside. There were a lot of  beautiful distinguished paintings on the walls. I believe the floors and furniture were mahogany and the details just retouched to make it look spectacular. We approached to the host and made sure our reservation was there and we only had to wait for less than 7 minutes. Then we were assigned a table and  the friendly waiter offered the specials for dining. Previous to arriving, we checked the menu to have an idea of what the restaurant was about.

We finally decided for Crab Cakes as an appetizer , and Braised Beef Short Rib and Pan Seared Day Boat Scallops for both our entrees. I have to say EVERYTHING WAS TASTY! We savored it and appreciated it completely.  The ribs were so tender and juicy and the scallops had this unique sweet flavor that is unforgettable. Last but not least, dessert. We were both excited to try out the most ordered dessert : the Butterscotch Blondie Sundae. Our palate was definitely discovering all these pungent and distinctive flavors. Old Ebbitt Grill was an experience that will now remain forever in our memories of the Washington trip.
